LED Lights

LEDs in a tank look awesome. I have 5 white LEDs pointing upwards on the back of my tank. I'll try to get some pictures posted up tonight. Check out the specs on the LEDS, ie. the volts required. Usually around 3 volts. You can take the lazy way out by using an old cell phone charger or any DC outlet charger. Wire the LEDs up in parrallel and hook them up to the cord coming out of the charger. You can do all of the calculation with resistance, amps, volts bla bla bla or just try the method out that i did. Mine works great. But remember to use one around 3 volts. Thats usually the required voltage for LEDs. And remember wire them in parallel. Ill post some pictures of my tank tonight for you if you would like to see how i have them set up

it would be for a reef tank so i need it to be bright and have the right spectrum for growth

For a reef tank you need blue LED's about 470-476 nm

I just saw someone who had built an LED light. I will try and find the link for you.
