its the light only, not a diy. its replacing an existing light. ill get pics of the macro algae as it goes.

it might be a good option for the "algae filter" light.
 
I've already tried one of those on my algae turf scrubber. It isn't powerful enough to really do anything. When I finally switched to power compacts, the algae took off.
 
Yes huge lights are needed, by huge I mean not stadium flood lights, I doubt LEDs will do the trick, good luck with it though
 
for the price i couldnt pass up.
