has anyone ever used LED light for there main Lights, or would you stick with florsant? I am using a 50/50 coral one. But my water is fresh water is that ok? Im thing of doing it LED (white) because it use less energy and doesnt get HOT.( they prolly dont either) Just wondering if anyone has tried it. If so can you post pics? Im thinking about getting an oscar and some other agressive fish that would go god with them in a 65 gallon tank. I also want to put a large mouth bass in the 85 gallon one anyone ideal of what kind of filteration i should use? Im still new at this some please dont :character0087: me. Would those ones for wal mart work in either tank or should i opt for something else, thanks

for the lighting you might be able to use LEDs but unless you get the good ones its going to take a ton of them to get any decent light. The 1/4 watt LEDs arent very good, and you'll have to make a reflector of some sort for them as well. It can certainly be done, but untill the price of the 3W and up LEDs decreases, I would stick with more conventional methods.

I agree with rallysman, LEDs could end up costing you as much as flourescents, and LEDs do produce some heat at those levels, but it's negligible inthis case.

Your wanting big fish so you have to have a filter to handle them, especially in smaller tanks.

Why not build up a sump system for each tank. Several different styles on here that work great.
