I saw that they have reef capable LED lights. Would those grow good plants?

Bright enough LED can definately gr plants....Corals are probably more demanding than most plants.....The fixtures will cost you initially but will easily pay for themselves in both electric and bulb replacement savings.

Marineland offers some pretty good LED systems that can be cheaper than most. I have the double bright system on my 20L and plants seem to be doing pretty good :)

Marineland LED fixtures are crap. For the amount of light they put out, the price is ridiculous. Since you have low-light plants, why not look at some other LED options, and save a ton of money? Have you seen my thread on the LED flood lamps that lots of folks have been using?

what size tank do you have......I run the ecoxotic modules that you can see on the same page as the Marineland......I also have a 36"-48" double bright which would not do the job. The ecoxotics are far brighter. I run three modules on my 150 along with the doublebright. I would need more lights to grow plants but my tank is 30" tall.

my tank would be your basic 55 gallon. and the marineland 125 Monterrey super system. and a aquatech 29 gallon.

Agreed!

And yes if the light will grow corals it should grow plants no problem. I would look into high watt LEDs since the results I've seen from these are by far better than anything marineland has produced so far.
