this afternoon I disturbed the gravel quite a bit in one of my tens and i noticed something crawling on the glass, called my husband in and he said it was a leach.

I was too slow trying to find something to get it out with and it went back down into the gravel.

Tank inhabitants are a betta, and four scissortail rasboras.

what do I do now?!?!

Not leech. It's most likely planaria, tubifex worms or bloodworms. A pic is needed.

those things you listed are quite small, i'm pretty sure a betta would have eaten them. maybe it is a leech.

but how exactly do you presume a "leech" got into theyre tank?:screwy:
well i guess if its gravel they found some were then it could have been in the gravel all this time, but i seriulsy doubt that.:)

I seriously doubt it as well :)

I cant find him again. he is hiding in the gravel and a good gravel vac didnt seem to work as he wasnt in the bucket, so no pic right now.

This thing was about an inch when totally stretched out on the tank, and moved like an inchworm across the glass, he was a light grey color and sort of had a flat head and body shape.

hmmm i'm pretty sure leechs don't hide in the gravel

Do you see any marks on the side or your fish ? they will leave round bite marks on your fish if it is a leech

Just a wild guess, but if your tank water is very soft, it can cause a snail's shell to disintegrate. Did you buy any new fish recently (or feed live food)? Maybe something came along for the ride ..
