Good Day ya all.........Needing help with removing leeches, not physically. I do have Panacur but am afraid to "nuke my pond". Any help would be appreciated. I have tried hydrogen peroxide with no result. This fish is very calm and can be handled with very little stress.

I was following your other thread on this as well. You mentioned that physical removal just wasn't working. What exactly happens when you try?

A fine pair of needle-nose pliers or a hemostat, gripped tightly right at the head end of the leech and then a short sharp yank...? Tried that on myself a few decades ago...or more accurately, on a leech stuck onto me :)...didn't like the feeling, but...the leech was gone.

The leech just rips apart, if it will even come off. I have tweezers, pliers, hemostats and most of my teeth, they are very hard to pull off. I have read you don't want them to regurgitate their stomach.IMG_20230818_124340.jpg

I've dug around for 15-20 min. One repeatedly recommended med is formalin, so I'd try Microbe Lift Broad Spectrum Disease Treatment based on formalin and Malachite Green. Good stuff, has always worked well for me through the years. Sold up to 1 gallon jugs for larger ponds.

Card or blunt object didn't work. These guys were latched on very well. We had to go with hemostats to pull them off one, by one. It took us about an hour and a half to do so. We first did a 3% Para Salt solution bath then into the Hospital tank. Even after 3 minutes in the salt solution they stayed on.
