I really like snakeheads but they are illegal in the USA. Is there a similar fish that is legal? bowfins are illegal in my state as well but bichirs are not. Do bichirs behae similarly in aggression and power? I saw some cool videos of live feeding a bass to a snakehead and I want to know if it would happen with a bichir too. Is a black wolf fish a bichir?

Very smart of you to check beforehand about the legality of fishes before you ask! Bichirs are mostly bottom dwellers and some can be aggresive but depending on the individual fish. The closest fish that i can think of resembling a snakehead would be a pike cichlid but their aggeresion is probably no match to a snakeheads. Pike cichlids are ambush predators though....

I own a Black Wolf They are awesome looking and eat any live small fish I put with him.I think if I had to pick any fish to compare to a snakehead for aggression I may pick The Wolf as well, don't settle for a rainbow way smaller compared to Hoplias Curupira who grow to 16 inch is usual max out. and less aggressive. her is a pic of mine. The guy I bought this fish from lost two juvi Snakeheads to it.
Here is a link that is very accurate to the Wolf fish. http://hoplias.webs.com/hopliascurupira.htm

So the curu is more aggressive? I want the most aggressive one I canget without spending a fortune. On aquascapeonline.com they have standard wolf fish and red wolf fish. And they're around 45 to 60 each. Which is suitable for me haha

That is what I have read and yes FL Gar will do fine I have one with my wolf and no problems in the past 3 months. Always remeber to keep a nice little cave for the Wolf they love to hide and ambush their prey. Here is a quick vid of my overall tank With Gar Black Wolf nd Channa Diplogramma and Tinfoil's.
