What if any are the restrictions on selling baby LMB, and for that matter where would be a good place to find restrictions on buying, selling, and owning native fish? New to this hobby, but I jumped in head first. Can't get enough fish or enough tanks.

All that varies state to state. I suggest you contact your state fish and wildlife folks for a definite answer.

In many states an aquaculture license is required to sell native fish. Here in TN it runs $500 a year, so it isn't worth it for the small-time hobbyist.

I looked around the IN DNR site. What I've gleaned is that LMBs must be caught with a fishing license. They're required to be 12" minimum. Smaller bass may be caught and sold under special permit. The areas they may be caught and sold from is limited due to the existance of LMB virus. Basically, licensed hatcheries are the only places with selling permits. This is because required testing and culturing to detect the virus is easier to monitor at licensed hatcheries. Especially if any fish are destined to cross state lines.

Well, I guess I won't be trying to get rid of these little guys for a while then. They really are some beautiful fish. I hope they grow fast. Be a nice addition for my 600 DIY
