I had a wild thought the other day about how to decorate an aquarium: with lego's. Would it be safe to use them in a tank? I use PVC pipe in 2 of my tanks so I thought it wouldnt be to much of a stretch to use legos, that is if they are made out of the same stuff which i doubt they are.
So do you think the lego plastic will leak chemicals into the water and kill my fish?
Just think of the fish houses you could build, some pretty cool stuff comes to mind.

should not be a problem....I can't imagine they would use any toxic chemicals in Lego plastic since I'm sure many are eaten by children and most plastics in general do not leach anything unless attacked by rather nasty chemicals themselves.

You would get a lot of trapped air between the blocks that would make it difficult to attach unless you built the fish house underwater.

when i was little i played with lego's in the bath tub. u must put them together underwater. having said that, you could probably make a cool looking cave system with legos.

Yes you can use legos its been done several times. You build the structure
underwater and upside down so no air is trapped. When its finished just turnit upright-Anne

yeah I thought about the whole trapped air thing. Thanks guys I might biuld by next tank around some lego fish garages.

Just don't use your erector set.
