I have only seen it in osteoglossum, but they get it in bare tanks.

Yea silver arowana gets drop eye for sure. But is it ok for lei arowana be in bare tanks?

Any aro can get drop eye.

It is the general consensus in the hobby that DE is a genetic fault. It is however most often found in silver arowanas due to the tendency of captive breeding to set genetic faults via inbreeding.

With a lei it would appear that you would have a very low chance of it developing DE, regardless of tank set up.

Not a general concensus, if it was from inbreeding then wild collected silvers would be less like to develop it. This does not appear to be the case since over 99% of large silvers(24"+) posted have developed DE. One would think that there is more then just 1% of large silvers being wild.

de is caused by head trauma

If not the root cause, head trauma is at least the trigger. This has been my experience, along with many others on this forum.

I think the silvers are looking out of the tanks too much and not looking up like in the wild.

I have also read that a cause is (may be) high fat foods. I don't know, but if it was people that would be the case.
