Picked up a 9" achara catfish and have found too much conflicting info on it's max Size. What I need to know is if I should be building a tank to accommodate a 2' catfish or a 3' catfish.

Build as big as you can possible achieve / afford - Simples :~)
If the fish only manages to reach 2 foot it will apprecaite the extra space.
You can NEVER have too much space for Big Catfish.
