I may be aquiring a 14" L. pictus next week and I just wanted to know if anyone has any hands on experience with these guys. Are they similar care to L. marmoratus? Thanks in advance.

The yare similar to longibarbis (<- Sorry, can't spell) and I had one of those. They can become dog tame if you got a big enough tank to keep them in. At 14" he's still growing and will get quite large and like all othe large cats he'll need pristeen water. I had mine years ago in a 185 (5'x2'x30"tall) and that wasn't big enough. I'd say something around 8' long, atleast2' from front to back and 2' from top to bottom would be ok. But you'll need a good tight lid as they can get nervous. The up side is that they are easy to train and hand feed. So if you've got the space and are ready for heafty water changes then you're ready. They don't need to eat every day either, once every 3-4 days is all. I feed al my large cats chunk fish from the grocery store. Sometimes I'll put vitamins in the fish that I'm about to feed.... That's just me though.... Good luck, they're beautiful fish!

Here was mine @ 18":

I also have a longibarbis. It's currently only about 9 inches long. I really love this guy. Only had him for about a week and already hes getting used comming out to eat whenever I approach the tank. I will not be keeping him for long as to I only have a 65 gallon (36''x18'') tank. I only feed him the sinking carnivor pellets every other day for now. If you have a very large tank(atleast 100-150 gallons) you will definitely not be dissapointed.

Let me Know if you want it, and I'll get it. I decided not to just bring it in 'till I have a home for it.
