Some people would argue that they are less agro than Jars, you see lots of examples here on MFK where they are are kept with other fish but in my personal experience, I have found them to be totally nasty. The 25cm one I had took chunks out of the side of a 30cm Gudgeon, the only thing it would live with was a Synodontis as it couldn't catch it. Comes down to the individual fish, you can try it but be prepared to lose some fish if anything goes wrong.
They are less aggressive. Search for pics and you'll see why. But, that doesn't mean that they are not aggressive at all. Just that they are less agro compared to the Jars.
BTW, keep with other Aros if you want to play safe. Preferably 2-3 others.

IDK if I would risk it you know. These are only CA cichlids and all but I'd rather have more than one fish. Well these two comments are conflicting so you can understand me for being confused. Put simply could I grow out one in a 4x2x2 with Ca cichlids, Dat and plecos?
. Guess it depends on the fishes personality.
aros are girls i had to move mine cause it was getting flogged up by my jag/dovii/cuban/texas pretty much every chicld in the tank and they where 2 to 4 inch while the lei was 6... chiclds are just to territorial period
