I bought a 6” Leichardti on 2/4/2026 and housed it in a 125 gallon planted tank with driftwood, neons, red flagtail, redtail shark, black shark minnows, and SAE. He ate really well accepting hikari food sticks right off the bat. He would swim between plants and greet me every time I came up to the tank. He was the king of the tank and would check anyone who came close. He would injure himself chasing the neons and so I decided to remove everyone and go bare bottom so my Lei wouldn’t hurt himself anymore. He continued to eat well until 2 days after removing everyone and all the decor. My ammonia is 0, nitrite 0, nitrate 5, ph 7.0, temp 82F. As of today, he hasn’t eaten in 1 week. I’ve tried hikari food sticks, frozen and freeze dried blood worms, and even love crickets but still refuses to eat.

My question is, would bringing in another fish like a juvenile green terror help stimulate his predatory instinct to compete for food or do I need to just be patient and wait til he eats again?

No bumps or lesions, fins are all intact, swimming normally at the top and mid section of my tank. I’m at a loss and I don’t want to lose this guy. Any advice is welcome!

He’s bored and lonely. If he only injured himself chasing neons I’d put some of the other bigger fish, and the decor back.
