How big have you found S. leichardti get in captivety? Since I'm staying away from the Asians Arowanas until they are legalized I have been considering S. leichardti for quite sometime (since 95 actually). How big have you grown them? When mature do they change to adult coloration unlike the juvenilles coloration? As well how similar are they to S. jardinii in captivety? Are they an aggressive fish that can be kept with other aggresive fish or do they require a specimein tank (kept alone). I've got a 100 gallon and a 360 galllon I' considering redesigning.

I had one that was 30" +.

They can be just as aggressive as Jardini. However I have found that they can co-exist with other large fish that can handle the odd bashing.

A 360 gallon should be adequate. A 100 gallon will make a good growout.

As they grow older more red should appear throughout the body. It also depends on the quality of the fish.

Bump for a local guy. I live in Sac. My Lei got a long fine with my polys, dats, clown loaches and other fish just fine. He was also in there with my black aro for a couple of months but then they started fighting, so I threw him in my outdoor pond for the summer while I decided what to do with him. I might try to move him back in later this month. Their red definately gets more defined as they get bigger. The 100 would be fine for a couple of months, and the 360 would be good for life.

The Fish Wrestler once I final am done with my bachelors degree here a UC Davis I'm seriously and have been considering putting in a 1000 plus in my Garage on the concrete foundation. Similar to Capital Aquariums 1000 gallon Silver Arowana tank except if legal Asian Arowanas however if still illegal a leichardti and possible a pair if I'm confident of the two. When this eventually happens I have got to figure finnally how to post photos properly.
