ok so heres my question, im keeping a silver arowana and always wanted an australian aro but i have heard that the jardini is very aggressive and can not be kept with other tankmate once they hit 6 to 8 inches. i wonder if the Leichardti is as agressive as the jardini? and will it live with other tankmates? any info on the Leichardti ? whats is the difference between the two? i think my lfs sell the Leichardti ( not sure it is or a jardini but it is whiter than a normal jardini and have light red dots)

ok, well just so you know leichardis are rare.

heres some info:

there not as aggresive as jardinis
they thrive at 82 degrees
they should be fine with tank mates ofcourse you want something thats big enough not to get gulped
the difference between the two is that jardinis are darker then most leichardis and jardinis are very agro
they top out at about 36"

thats pretty much all i know about them pretty basic info

My old jardini killed 5 tankmates before he was 8 inches. My leichardti now at 14 inches has yet to kill. He chases tankmates around but never so persistently or brutally as the jardini. :)

Have you read the September 2002 issue of AFM?? I might be able to scan it and send it to you :) it is old but very informative :) The main reason behind most all Aro's being very aggressive towards eachother or other surface and mid level fish is stated that they are territorial especially to other aros reason being that they are both surface dwelling fish.. So their territories are right around the surface.. Allot of bottom dwellers are able to live in the same area due to the fact they are not a threat to to territory that an arow considers it's own..

The older they get it is stated the more territorial they get as they get really big as we alll already know.. Allot of Breeders only bring them into the same tanks for time enough to do their business and that's it :) But then you get into mixing species and this is a completely different thing.. It is a trial and error thing that allot of people are willoing to do and allot that are not..

But the circumstances reamin the same they are surface dwelling territorial fish :) Hope this helps.. I have put this picture i've painted together through what i got out of the article and other threads here ..:)

i cant add anything cause it's all been said...hehe make sure ur silver is larger or same size as the leicharti when it's introduced n u shouldnt have a problem...
