I came home today to find my baby Lei was no where to be found... I keep my tank tightly sealed because I know how these guys love to jump. I frantically searched the floor around the tank but there was no sign of the little guy :nilly:. After exhausting all viable possibilities as to where he could have gone I started to check areas he could not have ever reached on his own... or atleast I thought :irked:. The little booger was in my trickle system... I have the over flow completely netted off and the glass presses down on the mesh so the is NO-WAY ANY fish larger then a baby guppy could get thru it . He was on his side with water splashing on him for who knows how long . I scooped him outta there and placed him back in the water. To my relief he was still able to swim up right but he did seem a bit disoriented :(...
He's been back in the water for about 5 hours now and seems ok. The thing is his eyes have become very cloudy . He ate a couple of pellets but I'm still very worried. He has a white spot in both eyes and the rest is just cloudy. I'll get pictures later if needed. Ive had this happen to an oscar that jumped out of my tank a long time ago and he ended up passing away (this oscar never did swim upright after the ordeal so maybe it's a bad comparison). If this Lei dies I'll be heart broken . I really hate medicating my tanks but will do so if it save my Lei's life.
Finally i'll get to my point, sorry.. lol. Will my Lei get better on his own or will I need to medicate? Any info is really apreciated, Thanks!

add some salt and watch it for a couple of days. usually when they get cloudy eye from an accident it clears within a couple of days as long as their is no bacterial infection.

Thanks for the quick response, Pounder :). How much salt per gallon should I add?

no it is a bacterial infection. or pop eye treat with teraclyclen or meta- flex

Melafix is good for injured eyes. More important though is clean water, you'll see improvement in a few days.

my remedy is clean water and salt. not sure the ratio but mine is 4 lbs per 100 gallons.
