Leichartdi barbells?

I bought a Leichartdi about a month ago from a mfk vendor and have been noticing it does not have barbells nor does it seem to be growing them as far as I can tell. He is currently about 4 inch in size and seems to be in good health other then no barbells. Is this normal for young Leichartdi?

It's normal for most of arowana that moved by net lost the barbels. Since he's young, maintain good, clean water, and the barbels will grow back in no time. I got one Lei that lost his barbels around 7"-8", and still grow back - 3 barbels I also have two black aros lost their barbels around 12"-14", and barbels grow back also.

ive heard young leis do not have barbels.
they get them when bigger.

At 4" it should have a visible barbels already. My friend's lie got a nice visible barbles at 2.5". The barbels might be damage. It will grow back in no time as most juvie aro have more chances of growing back their barbels compare to adults. If you notice in 1-3 months that the barbels is still not visible, poke it with a needle. I know it's sound cruel but tha'ts the only way to grow them back.

yea my 14" black's barbel is growing its almost as long as my silvers
