Lemon Jake

So I decided to keep up with the theme of getting new fish this week and I was able to get a hold of a breeding pair of Lemon Jakes here is a pic of the male and the female. Has anyone tried to breed these? If so how successfull were you and how many fry should I expect?

Havent bred lemon jakes before but they breed like most other malawi cichlids if you If you have bred other malawi cichlids before, them you shouldn't have any problems. If not here is a site that may help.

The amount of fry that you get may be hard to determine. If it is a females first time spawning and holding fry they tend to have smaller amounts of fry. First time I bred my red empress she only gave me 16 fry. The next time my red empress spawned she gave me about 60. Now after some experience she has about 100 or so.

Also it depends on size. Smaller female holds less eggs. Bigger females can hold more.

By the way that is a nice pair of lemon jakes. The male is real nice.

don't know specifics about this fish but that is one beautiful male.

I would guess about 30 ffy from each spawn. You might get lucky though.
Give them time and they will spawn. I just pulled 27 from mine last night.
