Just picked these guys up from the lfs. They were listed as C. lenticulata (Orinoco) on his order sheet. What do you think?

doesn't look like any lent I have ever seen, that doesn't mean much though ;) Lents should have markings down the flank and a humeral blotch just behind the gill plate.

Nope, I believe those are the same species of pike that I just got from snookn. Chances are your LFS ordered from him and got them. Just a hunch. :) There is a lengthy debate as to what they might actually be. Personally I think they are something along the lines of Crenicichla sp. 'xingu II' or possibly a variant of Crenicichla sp. 'lugubris'. Time will tell though. :)

Congrats! Grow them out! Check out these other two threads on them.

Are those the ones snookn thought were marmoratas? If so that's pretty ironic because I was thinking about getting those until I just happened across these at the this shop. I don't think he got them from snookn though. He said he had gotten them in several months ago. He was saying he needs to quit ordering pikes just because he likes them because nobody wants to buy them. Plus they were only $39 each.

Well, I'll update this thread with pics as they grow out. How big are the ones you got from snookn? These are 6-7 inches.

Oh, I missed the second link you gave. So they are the "marms" snookn had. Pretty funny I was debating with myself over which ones to get and they turn out to be the same thing.

The pikes have been in the 210 since Friday. They are starting to eat pretty much anything I offer (flake, pellet, various frozen). They have started showing some aggression towards each other but nothing too serious yet. Mainly the largest one has picked an area under a log and doesn't want the others near it. They are still a bit skittish but I managed to get some pics.

Very nice! The darker substrate definitely makes their colors look different. I've got mine over a white sand substrate and their colors are more cream and yellow. Keep the updates coming! Yours are quite a bit smaller than mine from the looks of it. You've got some great things to look forward to.

I moved mine to the 300gal, they are loving it. They've finally established their niche in the tank, and are getting along great with the other pikes. These little guys have a lot of spunk. Two of them will take on my male lenticulata at the same time. He is at least three times as large, but they don't back down. Cracks me up.
