ok. so i got my leopard gecko today. hes a blazing somthing. now, when ever i go to pick him up he hisses and bites me... what do i do?

Leave him alone. Let him get used to his cage then slowly get him used too you. Do the least amount of handling as possible for a while.

well...i only have him on paper towls right now. should i put him on no substrate or get some sand? he is also in a 40 gallon tank. should i get him or her a mate? the lady at the pet store picked him up no problem...

Just leave it alone like mentioned of at least a week. It's in a new place and scared so it's going to be nippy. No, you don't need to get it a mate. They can live perfectly fine alone. Keeping it on paper towels is fine for now.

lol the debate about sand is crazy..but i personally say no just use some paper towel..but let the little leo get used to the tank first but honestly if a single leo is in a 40 gallon thats like a mansion for a human..get him some buddies like 1 or 2 possibly 3..and um the main question of holding the leo is well like i said let the leo get used to the tank then eventually hold him/her for 15 minutes then put the leo back in the tank and watch your hands maybe?? welcome..but pm me if you want more info..

ok. well. i cant tell if its a male or female yet... so i dont know what kind of mate to get it. but i will get 1 more because i think 3 would be to much work.

ok well i cant tell the sex of this gecko because i dont wanna handle it so should i just get another female? or does it matter what sex i get?

i would wait for this one to settle in before adding another

Yes, it does matter. And everyone would appreciate if you were to do your research before getting herps. For the sex matter, it does make a difference. Males will kill males, so get a female regardless. With that said, putting them together is not a good idea, if the female is still young, or if you do not want any eggs.
