Leo, Hen or Pearl

Hey fellow MFK'ers, how are you today? I have been in the hobby for years, got out of it due to deployment after deployment but now my military time is up.I want to begin rasing and caring for Rays and only Ray I have ever owned was a Motoro, briefly. I also had a Golden XBack that I got to babysit for a year when I was stationed in Korea! Back to the subject at hand, I want to know which type of Ray I should get. I have access to Galaxy but they are way to expensive. The housing arrangements for my the Rays are as follows 96x48x30 or 120x36x30. I eventually want to breed, but that wont be for awhile. I want to enjoy the fish first.
 
Totally depends on what type of rays you like. Raising fish you like is the most important. If you're asking which type of ray to raise to breed and sell in the future - black rays usually fetch a higher value but that also depends on the specific ray as well. Go with the one you enjoy the most :thumbsup:
 
I like the black rays more, because Im black. LOL Not really I likt the contrast provided by their coloration. I guess what I post was really vague, I need a hardy fish and I just read through the stickies and found that both Hen and Leo are hardy adults. Now how to choose between the two...

I would choose the ones that you can get the best "hooked up" pricing. Vamptrev is someone you should definitely talk to. He has some awesome rays (leo, hen, and leo x hen) for sale. Best of luck to you and please keep us updated. I love seeing other peoples setup!
 
Black Diamonds all the way....galaxy's are always nice! Are you looking for smaller rays (PUPS?) first and grow out or buy them bigger? also affects pricing of course.

My Wild Caught Black Diamonds just gave me two separate litters over the past 4 months.... now have four little BD pups (3males/1females)....fun to eventally get them to breed beautiful pups for you!

Nice and thanks all, Im going with BD's. I am going to have their tank build started next week.
 
I used to be a black and white guy all the way

But

After seeing other peoples tank I'm now aiming for a p14 pearl mix p14 or galaxy if that's what you want to call them

P14 and pearl come from the same part of the river and the contrast of colour with p14 and pearl looks great

The price of pearls now is great and you get a lot of ray for your money
