I recently purchased a Lepard Bushfish and am having trouble getting information on them between the internet and books. I was wondering if anyone had any information on them? They are also knows as a climbing perch or the scientific name Ctenopoma acutirostre . Thanks

MMM, lets see now,
Origins from Central Africa
They get to be around 8"
They can eat prepared foods and livefoods
Temp 73-82F, soft water (50mg/l), acidic (pH6.5)
Relatively calm
They are more active after dark and are nervous by nature
If they have lots-o-cover than they may become more openly active
Males have small areas of defensive spins on their bodies

I got this from the DK Encyclopedia of Aquarium and Pond Fish by David Alderton.

I have several of these fish. The name of climbing perch is incorrect that is Anabas testudineus. They get about 6 inches, they are ambush predators and are quite interesting to watch hunt. They will sit and wait for a food to come to them then will sort of drift alongside them before swallow their prey. I also wouldnt consider them nervous fish, but mellow fish. Provide some plant cover and they will feel right at home.

I got one the other day too, it's a cute fish. It's only about 2 inches long and hangs out in the cave with my bichirs.

It's already started gobbling live mealworms about an inch long.

The leopard bushfish is said to be rather timid... Medium fishes of similar temperament are recommended. Congo tetras are a good choice for a biotope tank.

Best regards.

Daniel.
