Leopard Ctenopoma

Smaller species of polypterus, african knifefish, butterflyfish, etc. Best set up is african riverine biotope

Nothing too boisterous. An African theme would be nice. I used to have one with an African Brown Knife, a Senegal, and 12 Congo Tetras.

It shoudl also be mentioned that all species of ctenopoma do well in groups. They won't school per se but their interaction is interesting to observe

55 gal + is the best to keep them in because then you can keep some other oddballs.

they can be housed with some of the more placid cichlids as well, like Satanoperca and things like that

How about severums or angelfish? Can they be housed with them or will these pick on the ctenopoma?

Ctenopoma are nasty fin eaters. Notice I say eaters, not nippers. They snack on any fish fins within their reach. They aren't particular either. They snack on my turquoise jewel, pearl gouramis, A. hecklii, and blue rainbow. Essentially, all the fish in the tank with them. The only ones that were immune to their feasting were the skunk botias which i removed from the tank thinking it was them that were doing it. It wasn't the case.
