Hey Everyone,

Just curious about possibly having a leopard gecko for an 18x18x18 or 18x18x24. Know the height isn't much of a factor but will be using background that has ledges so it will be able to be used as resting areas. Just wondering if I was to go with the exo terra how many leopard geckos would be able to thrive in this set up? I was thinking a single male or 2 females...doubt three can be kept.

Also do you guys think leopard geckos can be fed strictly worms like meal worms? Watch a few vids and researched that some breeders feed only meal worms. Such breeders like Sasobek if Im not mistaken feed only mealworms dipped in reptical.

Thanks A Million!

I wouldn't keep anymore than one gecko in that sized footprint. Yes, they will climb but it's not their specialty. Unless you're making a custom background with lots of shelves the factory ones that come with the Exo Terras are pretty flat.

Only one, and I would personally go with something bigger. Also, I don't really like exo terras. Too much money for the quality.

Hey thanks for the replies, Im actually considering using my 40 gallon breeder instead and use backgrounds from bigappleherb

or did a combination with:

and

Still unsure as I would go with the 36inch one but want to see if the ledges stick out the way it does with the 18x18x18 in this video:

Those background are nice but if you want to save some money and have a creative side you can construct a custom one of your own.

Wish I was handy lol, pretty sure if I remember you customize your background for your ackies right?

Yes sir! Basically you carve a background out of styrofoam/Great Stuff Foam, coat it will a layer of hydraulic cement and when that dries coat it with a layer of your choice color of tile grout.

Hmm I will take a look as my aunt is all into arts and crafts maybe we can customize something. Thinking about the substrate now. Ive always used carpet. I feel that sand will be way easier to maintain as you just use a scooper to pick up the mess. However I know impact is especially common in young leks however are the ones mainly fed with free roaming crickets and/or on calci sand. I was considering feeding only mealworms in a mealworm feeder bowl so they don't come out and use regular washed sand, I do like the look of crushed walnut shells but heard bad things.

Also If I do decide on a substatre like sand will defiantly not purchase baby leopard geckos most likely juries 5 inch and over
