whats a good product to get to use as a sheding stump/cave and how often do you change the moss and "re wet" it. im still trying to figure out this whole shedding thing before i get the leopard...oh and also any pics of your setup so i can see how they look would be appriciated. thanks all in advance.

Hey,

Right im thinkin you are talking of a "wet box", that helps shedding of leopard gecko skin? if so then i used and empty icecream tub or butter container bigger than the size of your lizard, and in the side cut an opening allowing entry. fill the BASE of the container with vermiculite and soak it with water so the vermiculite is wet but there is NO EXCESS WATER. This "wet box" is placed on the heatmat and whenever the vermiculite begins to get a little dry then wet it.

hope that this helps!:)

Right on Tigeralbinokeeper. Thats what I use. A large butter tub works great with just vermiculite, so don't bother with any moss.

i was hoping for a more "natural" look ...also does it have to be in the tank at all times...

Ok well in my old tanks i used to put rocks around it to make it look more natural but i dont know of any other more natural ones. yes it is best to keep it in there permanantly.

sorry i am of no use for the more natural wet boxes. if anyone else knows anymore i will also be interested in hearing it.

I completely agree, this is the cheapest, easiest and maybe most effective way........

i have another (dumb?)question...is it possible to keep these guys in a room with an air con running at night if i have a heat pad running under the tank. cause i dont normally use ac which make my room perfect 82-94 during the day depending on time of year and at night drops to 70's but sometimes it stays up in the 80's and thats too hot for me to sleep in so i do use the AC on those nights...so ya thats myquestion.

If you're worried about a naturalistic look, there are some driftwood that are bored out that you can stuff with peat moss.

Yeah you could run an AC in the room as long as the cage temp stays in the low 80's. If your worried about the light, get a night heat light or infered one. They don't put out very much visible light. Or like you said you can use an under the tank heater. You can run a test with the AC on and see what the temp in tank goes down to.

right on every0ne for helping me...for the driftwood suggestion are you talking bout the peices with holes that go rite through or are you talking about large peices with "cave" like holes...cause i have only seen them with holes straight through the wood not really cave structured...also should i leave the heat pad on during the day or just at night or only at nigh when i use the AC...the tank stays at 85 during the day with nothing in it(no heat source) but it does drop to the 70's...and yes i know to put it on when i use the AC but im more so asking if i keep it on when the AC is not in use. let me know thanks.
