Lepidos spawn today

Female a bit rambunctious today, not letting the male get too close to the eggs.
She seems to have used those teeth to scratch him up a bit too.

Appears the eggs were infertile (I thought they looked too white), but since it was their first spawn, that is not surprising.
These fish are awesome! What is their max size?

There is a photo in the June 2008 #246 Buntbarsche Bulletin of an adult, just fished out of Lake Tanganyika where the head alone is the size of a mans outstretched hand. You may be able to access the photo on the American Cichlid Association web site. The fish in the photo looks to be maybe 2ft long, give or take. My male is maybe 7", female 5".
Eggs were not infertile after all, found wrigglers today, same white as the eggs, total surprise.
