i was thinking of getting a lepoard gecko. does anyone have any info on these? are they nice and friendly? how big do they get and just the basic info on them. thanks

From what I've read, they are supposed to be very tame and are 7-10 inches at full length. They're main food is mealworms and crickets. They have good size lifespans and are supposed to be a fine pet (at least from what I've read.) The site I checked out was: http://www.leopardgecko.com/emcare.html
You should check it out too.

Very tame but a little shy.

dont feed mealworms unless you tear off their heads, otherwise they will eat up the inside of the leo. many will tell you this is an urban legend, but i have had many people give me their first hand experience including one person who only found out it was the mealworms that killed his beardy because thats what the vet said when he did a post-mortem. crickets and maybe occasional pinkies is all thats needed for their diet.

I have never seen it happen but I can believe it, my tokays will sometimes gulp down crickets without chomping them first, if the did that to a meal worm it might live long enough to pierce the stomach lining.

i fed my breeders meal worms wax worms crickets and would put a dish of vitamin powder in there they would lick it as they needed i never had a problem with worms eating them dont keep them on anysand even that calcium sand it will cause impaction. i kept mine on the green repti carpet with no problems looks better than paper towls and cleans easy. also make a humid hide i kep 1.3 in a 20l and used one of the small plastic retile cages cut a hole in it and filled it with moss and kept it moist. hope this helps anything else you need to know just ask here or pm me.

Mine was mean and bit. But I always get lucky like that. I also had a bearded dragon that struck at me all the time. Through the glass and everything.

those are all some great advice thanks. about the mealworms, what if i made sure i killed them before i feed them to him, is that as good as ripping the heads off?

i killed meal worms once and the lizzards would not eat them its your call on how you want to go about that you could try the canned worms from zoo med
