(Leporacanthicus galaxias)

I bought this guy about a month ago from a pretty knowledgable guy at 6.99 sold as a bushynose pleco.

But looks like a Leporacanthicus galaxias

Check to see if it has large teeth in the upper jaw. Also check for a round lower lip and fleshy tentacles on the upper lip. If this is the case, you might have Leporacanthicus galaxias. But from the picture, IMO it doesn't appear that you do. Clearer/closer pictures would help.

if not, what could he be? doesn't look like a bushynose, my boyfriend has one, solid gray/black and crazy tentacles in the mouth

I think you're right. IMO, its a female snowflake (Ancistrus sp.). The females won't have the bushynose like the males.
