So. I noticed something odd about my Leporinus "desmotes" today.

Posted a thread back in 07, where we all pretty much agreed he was a desmotes.

Yeahhhh. I posted in a thread IDing a Leporinus today and it caused me to go through the picture ID part of fishbase. While viewing all the Leporinus photos I noticed that my adult Leporinus actually looks NOTHING Like a desmotes. But I happened upon a pic of the y-ophorus and he's a perfect match. Has the orange throat and all. So for 3 years I've been thinking he's something completely different.
Sorry I couldn't get a great picture, he kept darting around like a spaz.

Here's a pic:

I just thought that was interesting since I haven't seen anyone post pics of their y-ophorus and not sure if anyone has one.

I kind of wonder how we all IDd my juvenile fish in 07 as desmotes. I'm thinking maybe a pic of y-ophorus had not been posted yet and people have been mixing up the two. There's not much information on fishbase for them, like size or anything. Mine is about 7 to 7 1/2 inches long and I've had him for about 4 years now. Got him around 2 inches long.

Thought that might interest the headstander/Leporinus enthusiasts since we're kind of an odd bunch :p

If anyone has any pics or info feel free to post it here.
