I had a friend who was the manager of a Leslie's store and when I asked him if I could "get some sand" through him he brought me 10~12 50 lb bags... :S I've since used every bit of it :D

The reason it looks so "bright white" is because it reflects light very well. In person mine is an off-white or very light tan.

In this picture you can see the "bright white" near the front of the tank where the light is reflecting... that's not what it looks like "in real life". But the back left corner of the tank shows the off-white / light tan color that I see when I look at my fish...

Another perk to Leslie's Pool Filter Sand is this brand is lightly larger grained than most and has almost no fines. Of the 5 or so brands of PFS I've used Leslie's was by far the quickest/easiest to wash. It is also lighter in color than most/all of the other's I've used.

I highly recommend using Leslie's brand PFS, and my buddy doesn't even work there anymore.

It doesn't show up white, but yellowish with white glares.

When I get home I will see if I can find a pic of my puffer tank, which is leslie's PFS mixed with Dolomite under an actinic bulb. It likes white-ish
