Leslies Pool - pool filter sand

Hello,
I am looking to get pool filter sand for my tank, ive heard a few people mention Leslies Pool as a place to buy it. When i went onto there website and searched "sand" there are a few options that came up. Looks like the basic one is named "Silica Sand", it says filter sand on the front of the bag. Is that what everyone is getting and works good?

Theres also others "Zeo Sand", "Fiber Clear", something Earth.

This one fine to get and use in my tank? And have a 55g and an FX5 canister filter, will i be fine changing my gravel to sand and not hurt my fish? Also this type of sand will not ruin my filter correct?

Use the silica sand. The other one you referred to I believe was diatomaceous earth...different stuff. Make sure you rinse it VERY good before putting it in the tank. Good luck.

I have 18 tanks and use nothing but sand from Leslie pools....It's heavier than play sand so it won't kick up into your filter.....unless you have a hyper Pleco....i don't even rinse mine...when i fill the tank i do it slowly and kind of lay the hose on a rock so i don't disturb the sand....the tank stays a little cloudy for a day or 2....but the FX5 should take care of it quickly...

I don't rinse my Leslies PFS either... But first do a test batch...

+1 for Silica sand. I have it in my 240 and 150 and rinsed all mine. After seeing the color of the water you'll be glad you did.

Any photos of the sand from leslies ? What it looks like under lights etc. thanks

I don't have any under bright led's. This is a tank I just setup last week and one from a few yrs back.

You should be fine. If you have something really rowdy that kicks up sand then just put a pre filter over your intake.

When I changed an old 55 I had to sand what I did was remove half at a time

What does the bag look like from leslies ? Just want to make sure i get the right stuff. I am here now in middletown ny
