Well everyone time to share my sad story...

A few weeks ago I decided to "rescue" a large albino catfish from a local asian market. It was a bad descion to start with, the poor fellow could barely turn around in my 125. I was thinking of building a pond for him but he died a few days after purchase:cry:.

He was only in the tank dead for a few hours before removal but I still was too busy/too stupid to change the water for almost a week. I changed the water but noticed that my Jardini was become lethargic. He spent most of his time hanging in the corner of the tank, and his scales looked raised.

After a few more days I noticed that portions of his tail and fins were turning black and rotting off. I changed the water again, turned up the temp and dumped a bunch of salt in the tank. A few more days went by without any improvement.

I finally decided to re-arrange my fish and put him in a 55 by himself. I've added salt and pimafix. He is now swimming with his tail down (very bad I know), his eyes look very sunken and he is not eating...

Even if he lives I don't think his tail will ever grow back, it has rotted completely off down to the flesh. I was wondering if anyone has any advice, though I fear the worst. He did swim up to me when I checked on him to day, but I tried feeding him and he had no interest.

At the very least I hope others can learn from my mistakes...

Update...He died. I'm heartbroken he was without a doubt my favorite fish and I had him since he was 2"...this sucks...
