Hi i'm Gio from Jakarta,Indonesia 17yo this month, this is my first thread in MFK yeay. I want to share my experience i got from my first arowana, which had died on March 8th 2014. The reason of its death was 'jump', yes, he jumped from 80cmx40cmx40cm tank onto the floor when i was sleeping at night.I had been keeping him(maybe a male) for only about 2 weeks. It was a big mistake for not placing a lid above the tank. I heard that arowana would jump if they feel uncomfortable, so i didn't place the lid above beacuse i place him in a nice condition of water + great filtration(soft mat,Jap mat,Bioball,Ceramic ring, zeolite,Carbon). The another reason i just realised is at the last time feeding the aro, i was thinking about taking a new RTG and sell that one, and i still remember i just fed him 3 crickets for that night(usually 5 crickets). So the lesson i learned from this accident is to PLACE A LID ABOVE the arowana tank and understand that animal(fish) have 'feeling' too lol. This is the stats of the arowana: Banjar Red, 8" long(bought at 7"),cost around 20$ converted from rupiah(indonesian). Picture before-after below
