One important life lesson that dawned on me while staring at my fishes is do not
get attached to an object or collection. They are nice to have but they could be go
break or you might have to go at any given time. In other words, all material things in this world are temporary.

Anybody else remembers any life lessons or learn something new while taking care of you wet pets? :)

Quarantine new fish
always have a spare filter and heater on hand
keep asmall tank empty for quarantine /hospital use
two smaller filters are better than one big filter
make a siphon break in the intake tube (learned that the hard way)
protect your fish from direct contact with your heaters(burned fish are not fun)
keep some form of medicine on hand -Anne

that is some very good advise!
you forgot spare food! ;)

the thing i often get from staring at my fish is to slow down. The fish have a big time soothing effect on me and in these days that is a real rarity.

Always have an extra bottle of tap water conditioner on hand.

Spare parts for your Python are worth twice as much as whatever you will pay as to not need to drag out the buckets and siphon again.

Cheap playsand makes a good substrate. I now have over 30 pounds of gravel in my garage.

A water change has never hurt anything.
