I've been wondering about these guys activity level, are they more benthic or pelagic? Do they move alot?

I ask, because i can't find much info. on these guys, and they're the only Lethrinops spp. that get large enough for the effect (affect?) that i'm going for, plus the only ones that could compete with my fish.

I realize most Lethrinops are fairly peaceful, but how are these guys? Are they pushy when it comes to food? Would they just eat sinking food like any other Lethrinops?

Thanks for the help.

I believe you'd be fine adding this species. They are like peacocks but get bigger. Go to live fish direct and they have them for sale so they have a little bit of info. on them .

Thanks for the info man, i didn't see them on Live Fish Direct's stocklist though. I'm running on about 2 hours of sleep over 3 days so i may have missed it.

I was planning on ordering from Daves Fish, once i get the money, because they have F1's in.

I had 6 WC furcifers back in 1972 and I had them in a 200 gallon tank with mostly larger Haps. They were the least aggressive fish in the tank! Always on the move, constantly sifting thru the gravel, looking for a little morsel. They were fun to watch because they would leave the substrate dotted with little holes where they had sifted and moved on! Great fish! Johnathan:D

Thanks Johnathan, sounds like the fish i want. :)

How big did yours end up growing to? I've seen around 10" listed as max on alot of the profiles, but alot of maxes are exaggerated.

That's a long time to remember back, but I'm thinking the 2 males were about 8" and the four females a little smaller, maybe 6 1/2". They were great fish, and something different then the usual Haplochromis. Fed them mostly live brine shrimp, but they really liked digging in the sand for red worms! Very active fish, if you can get some I think you'll really like them! Johnathan:D

You have to remember we're talking 37 yrs. ago! There wasn't the wide choice of foods available, like we have today. Also these were wild-caught, so I felt it would be best to as closely replicate their natural surroundings as I could. Live brine, live red worms and some plant flake food was all they got. If you're getting F1's then ask the seller what he's been using. Tank raised should be much easier to switch over to almost anything you want to feed! Good luck and enjoy! Johnathan:D
