because I'm stumped. Naturally occurring hybrid or maybe undescribed species? It looks to me like kelberi/orinocensis hybrid what do you guys think? Possibly mirianae?

screw the fogo part then this fish is hot... One day these will be in the country and in one of my tanks...

They are also found in Bolivia I think. And why don't people export these from other countries like they do with other Brazilian bass? They smuggle them into bordering countries and send em on a plane throughout the world lol.
 
Paul Riess told me that the part of the river system where C. mirianae is found is extremely difficult to get to so I assume that most pet trade fish collectors wouldn't care to go there. Especially for a niche market like large SA cichlids. I'm sure they can make far more money collecting the "bread and butter" fish that sell to hobbyist all over the world.

that makes sense, the only way we are going to get fogo into the states is if some very dedicated people work up the courage to smuggle some out of brazil
