I've got the chance to pick up a small firemouth from my friend, and I'm in two minds! Anyone care to share their pics of their FM?

FM's are the one CA Cichlid that I never really got that in to. However, I did keep a nice one a few years back. He was around 6" and very pretty. I felt bad keeping him as the only FM in my CA tank. From what I understand, they prefer being in same-species groups. Anyways, this was him.

I have a 5" pair that's always trying to breed. I'll have to try a pic

Firemouths are very underrated fish in my opinion. Yes on their own they are nothing to get to excited about. If kept as a group of say ten individuals of a female heavy ratio, they are fascinating to watch.
The more you have the more peaceful the tank will be.
It's amazing just how small a breeding territory they need. I have had pairs with fry as little as six inch apart.Lots of entertaining Gill flaring but no harm done.

I remember back in the 70's and early 80's if you had a Firemouth you were considered to have something special. Even though they have lost some name recognition they are still one of the most awesome cichlids.

I don't think I'd be able to house a group :( probably best if I leave off of them just now, wouldn't want just one aggressive male
