Looks like they should. Add some dark substrate and see how they change.
 
yeah, that condition "reduced pattern" is highly variable with any gar; depends more on substrate, condition of fish, water quality, light than the actual genetics of the fish. put a "reduced pattern" on dark substrate and it will usually develop quite the more vivid pattern--
