i contacted pentair this morning about the window size on the 96" tanks. They told me they are 67x18 which seems very small for a 96x30 tank. I'm interested to see if anyone here has the bigger tanks OR the next size down (76 I think) and how the window size looks. I'm getting interested in these because they're so cheap and the the idea of building one into the wall really gets my juices flowing. I could trim around the glass so no blue is showing and do a 3D background for the back. Since you can't see the sides I could leave those alone and have the sides drilled out for filtration. Thinking of doing this plus two 55 gallon drums for filtration instead of the plywood tank I have been mulling over.

Bump.

No one wants to show off their tank? Must be a first on MFK.

SandNukka15 has two tanks--a 270 and a 600 gallon tank.

Apachedan had a 700 gallon tank back when they were sold by Aquatico. He did a thread in 2007.

My 504 gallon Aquatico tank has been sitting empty and collecting dust and cobwebs for 5 years. It will eventually be a holding sump for oiur big tank.

I guess I can't help but wish that the windows were bigger on the big sized pentairs. I like the window size on the older 504 gallon above. The price point and ability to have it display through a wall are still interesting to me.

Are u looking to get a 6 foot tank or 8?

8 would be better. I want to do a big south american community. I already have all the severums and stuff that I can house in smaller tanks. I'm not going to start buying the bigger fish yet, it may take a while for me to get a monster tank. My ideal stocking includes at least one ray and if possible a black aro. Here's what I want I'm aiming to stock-

Definate wants (have a bunch of these already)
7-8 severum
1-2 chocolates
2 True parrots
1 BD or Motoro
1 Black aro

Maybes-
A group of red head tapajos.
Atabapo I Red pike. I'm gonna get a pair eventually but don't know if they could live with all the above fish. I know they like pretty soft water and I'm not sure if they would beat up severums and geos.

You could easily keep a black arow in either of the 8 foot tanks they have ....8x4x2.5 or 8x4x3......i have a 10 inch silver in my 600

Stocking wise you will be fine with that list

So imagine your set up but through a wall with a 3d background. Only the glass is visible and the tank is sitting in the next room. Would you consider it a high quality display tank despite the smaller viewing panel? I know you can't see the whole tank at once but I'm assuming with a fully stocked set up your gonna see fish swimming all over the place anyway.

To be honest that is the main reason i bought 2 of these tanks. My basement is unfinished but my plan is to make both into in wall builds for when i buy a new house.

It cuts off more then i would like but it really isnt that bad.

Also if u plan on doing a 3d background your going to have to do the back and both left and right sides or its gonna look weird
