Lets see your red and white red devel/Midas cichlids

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Yes! that's a beauty! where did you get him and how long did you have it for?

I got him from Jeff Rapps at TUIC. They arrived on September 9th at two inches long. Casper in right at the six inches mark now.

The day they arrived, was a group of five. Now I only have two, Casper and his wife Goldie.

Casper killed an all orange male and his first wife, a white/orange creamsickle. A white/orange male was given to a fellow MFK member.View attachment 1357561
That stinks, I don't think I can put mine in with any other fish either unless you have a large tank and over crowd it with a bunch of cichlids of the same size might be the only way.

I recently tested Casper to see if he could live with non cichlids. And he failed miserably, chasing, nipping fins. Took them out before any real damage was done. So like yours, will be a solo fish if he can't get along well with Goldie this time. I have saved her twice now.

You know what, they are not bad being solo because they have so much personality and they interact with you better than most fish that I have owned.

I agree, had him solo for a week while Goldie was healing up. He was a hoot, always comeing to the front glass when ever I moved. 1548951087769-2132842315.jpg
They are soon going to lay thier fourth batch of eggs. The member that got the spare male also got twelve fry from the first spawn. Second batch was eaten by the first batch. Third was eaten by Goldie. I tryed to move her and them to a 55 to grow out the fry without Goldie getting picked to death from Casper to make the next batch. She said nope and ate them. So she got a week or so break and now this is attemp four.
