Lets talk about Dojo Loaches...

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I never owned them but I want to get some really badly... :(

Heard they are cool to watch when they're playing in a sandy substrate, especially in groups. Also heard they have so much character. :)

i used to have a dojo loach when i was a kid and it really was the most "playful" fish i've kept. just very amusing in behavior, would also come up to hand feed or hang out on the floating plants

Dojo loaches are playful, but the most playful of all my loaches are my khuli's. I have a small group of 8 of them, and they ove to chase each other through the bubbles from my airstones and around the driftwood for hours.

How big around do they get? I would love to get some for my tank but I have a feeling that they will turn into a snack for the bigger fish I have in the tank...lol

I luv them Mine was around 10 inches at 13 yrs old when he pass away. ( http://www.monsterfishkeepers.com/forums/showthread.php?428466-R.I.P.-DoJo&highlight= ) Mine was mellow so keeping him with very agreesive fish probley will not work. Mine lived with 2 blood parrots and a rainbow shark :) i want another one and plan to get one soon. :)

Is the "dojo" loach the same thing as the Chinese Weather Loach? This was the first fish I bought in the hobby!

I bought several Chinese Weather Loaches (thinking they could survive MD. waters.) I have never seen any in my outdoor spring pond since then, so who knows.

I did keep two in an aquarium (10G) that I borrowed from my brother around two years ago. This was my first attempt at "fishkeeping", and I still have both of these loaches today. They are now in a 55G however and are both close to 12".
