I know this stuff has become harder and harder to find lately. I actually found some in the bolus form at my local livestock supplier. Needless to say I bought the whole bottle. It was also the last bottle that they had in any of their stores.
While at the store today (I have horses so I am there often) I ran into the Rx rep. He told me that all sales of levamisole hydrochloride have been indefinately suspended. He also said it was due to off label alternative uses. He had also mentioned it was being used in trial for stage three colon canecer patients as well as trails for HIV patients as far as he knew. He was also not sure weather it was ever going to be available again as a livestock wormer.
So, if you can find it get some just in case! I imagine if it does work for other human ailments and gets past the FDA to treat one disease or another it will not be cheap!
BTW, I am only passing the info on that I recieved from the Rx rep. I can not verify what he was saying was 100% true or not! But given that it had been on the market and used safely for years with no major reports or recalls and had been rumored to have been used as an experimental drug for several different diseases I figured he was telling the truth.
