Okay guys...

I've ordered a 180g tank/stand/canopy from tenecor and it will be arriving in the next couple weeks. It's going in my basement and this is where the problems start. Our house was built in the early 1900s and so our cement floor is very uneven with air bubbles etc. I've thought about laying a concrete slab over the area I want the tank to make sure it's level. Do you guys have any alternatives or ideas?

Thanks,
Corey

Check out self leveling cement! All home improvement centers stock it.

I had the same issue a few weeks ago setting up my tank. I put the entire setup on a rug and leveled it by sticking door shims under the end of the base. It worked and you can't really see the shims. It did take some time, though.

i used the self leveling cement in my basement. First i nailed two by fours to create a rectangle larger than my stand then i used duct tape to seal all the wood to the floor. since i needed about three inches or more of concrete i used 1 bag of quick crete and 4 buckets of the self leveling concrete. its not really that hard its just a lil messy and and takes some time to feather the first layer of concrete. My 7 foot tank has been running over 6 months now and is almost complete level on all four corners.

That's exactly what we were planning on doing. Awesome! Thanks guys. :D

Probably going to be a lot more questions from me later on as this is my first large tank. I need to setup a sump tank for it and that will probably be a thread of its own as I'm a total sump newb...

How does this self leveling cement work ?

I don't know alot about cement but I think the self leveling cement is more for making things nice and flat... I don't know how much pressure it can take... If several inhes were going to set it might be better to go with a fast setting 5000psi cement if the self leveling stuff isn't rated that high...

I have metal stands and a lot of pressure in just 6 points... I guess it depends on the stand and any pressure points...

Anyone who used the self leveling... do you remeber the psi rating...?

Just a thought....

Self lever isnt just cement. Cement is a additive in concrete that acts as a hardener. Basically self lever is exaclt what it says. Like said earlier i would trim out the area you want to level or it will run everywhere

there is no psi rating on the bucket it come in. it is holding up just fine on my 265 gal
