I'm getting ready to take my 150g home and set it up (was set up at my work).

In my basement I had to use several shims to level my 120g tank (48x24x24). The 150g has an iron stand and I would imagine the legs would break any shims. The stand has 12 contact points where it would touch the floor.

I thought about resting the feet on some 2x6 boards but wouldn't they split?

I also imagine that any aluminum shims would be quite pricey.

wood shims may split and compact on you

but unless you need to shim a massive gap (as in inches) wood should be fine... but if you really want to use metal homedepot sells 4'x4' sheets for like $12... you can also get much smaller pieces.. or if you want to make life very easy just cut up a soda can and smash it flat with a hammer

It shouldn't be inches but I won't know till I move the aquarium. The 120g needed to be raised around 1/4" or more in a few spots. It was enough to where the overflows were not getting any water.

i have my 100g on a 2" thick board with braces at the back to the wall its pretty solid and does the job lovely when full to the brim, i have pics in my profile but dont know how to put in a comment yet lol im new to this so u lot have ta bear with me lol

sorry forgot to mention mine on an iron stand also with 8 legs that contact the floor

I made 1 inch thick solid oak 'feet' for my iron stand that holds a 65, I will do the same with my 150 long:

Did you grind them down based on the shim you needed?
