i just built a 2x4 stand for a 100g i just got. only problem is that the box i built is not too straight. i havent covered the top yet. so just the box frame right now. what can i do to level the top surface before placing the tank on? what im saying is that when i put the tank on, one of the corner has a gap. will covering the top piece fix this problem?

With an acrylic tank you need to support the entire bottom surface of the tank, I would not do anything that would not provide such support.
