I have a 60 gallon than I was going to start cycling and aquascaping today but I noticed the tank is leaning forward a bit.

What should I put under the stand to level it out?

If possible I'd let it sit for a little while full of water before I put fish in. I've had quite a few tanks on carpet. Depending on how thick the padding is they can settle quite a bit over a short period of time which makes leveling the stand difficult.

Make sure you're not on top of a tack strip. From what I remember they are usually up near the walls, it might explain the lean.

That's good to know thanks.

Do you know how far away they usually are? I'm at roughly 6 inches from the wall.

Carpet tack strips are usually an inch or so away from the baseboard so as long as the base of the stand is clear of the tack strip, that isn't the problem.

Do you have a solid base stand or one with individual wooden/metal legs?

Here's a few pictures-ImageUploadedByMonsterAquariaNetwork1428853289.574325.jpgImageUploadedByMonsterAquariaNetwork1428853311.331203.jpgImageUploadedByMonsterAquariaNetwork1428853333.162208.jpg

The three sides are touching the carpet but the front is open.

i would use small wood pieces to level it or i would buy some 2x4's and then i would and cut them to the size that levels the tank out on each side

Thanks for the pics, they help figure out what you may need to do.

Your 2nd pic doesn't really show how close the rear of the stand is to the wall but if stand base is really 6" away from the baseboard, you could back it up a bit unless you are using power filters that will need the wall clearance.

Shag carpet may be the culprit here but it should flatten down fairly well once you have water in the tank as suggested above. However, if the tank still doesn't level properly, removing the water and using shims may fix the problem.

How much off is the front to back and side to side from level?
