its safe to say that there's the potential for all fish to be affected as potentially all the fish have been exposed. I takevit theres a fish you want but others have whitespot?

lots of fish stores have ick and more... in their tanks ... the best(?) way I know how to combat this is... ALWAYS LOOK at the fish you are going to buy as a part of the community that it is in...if there is (are) fish that LOOK unhealhy ... there is a good chance the tank(s) are as well ... good luck!!
To keep ich out of your fish room. All new fish purchases should be quarantined before being put into your main tanks. Have only had 3 cases of ich in over 30 years of fish keeping. Never put water from the fish store into your tanks. Always net the fish out of the bag.

Quarantine is the only sure way. For ich detection, the water temp can't be too low as that slows down the life cycle of ich and you may not see an infection in time.
The other day my pearlscales died so I did a quick water change and took the fish out I keep it in a cup for a second so I could inspect it. I found out it had around six parasites which I saw in one of the other goldfish tanks at the Lfs there seemed to be a blood vessel burst in its face as it had huge loads of red blood under the skin.
I quickly added some salt and am currently going t set up a quarantine tank so that sort of thing doesn't happen again.
I told the Lfs and they gave me a half money back refund so I bought some melafix.
this is the best Lfs I've seen so far and they always have awesome exotic fish
