My LFS got some nice Polypterus called Concigus. They are about 6"-7" already and the owner said he got them on special, so i bet they don't cost too much. They have really long spines....longer than any I've seen. I already have 7 polypterus....and love 'em. SO I think I might pick one up. How big do they get and what is a good price?
Thanks!

be careful they may be senegalus, i had a store claim their senegalus to be congicus. if they are long finned they are definately senegalus

Polypterus endlicheri congicus is the largest of the bichirs. It a lower jaw species and has the potential to reach up to 39 inches.Dorsal side gray colored, ventral side paler, yellowish, with 6 to 9 darker transversal bars

They aren't senegals, I have 5 of those...three regular and two albino. I also have an ornate and a delhezi. All of them are at least 8" with the ornate being 14". Any ideas what they cost from an LFS?

well if they are truly long finned, then they've got to be senegalus. unless they aren't really long finned, and somehow it just looks that way to you.

Back when my congicus were pretty small they did seem to have fairly long dorsal fins.
