I have had this fish since late september from about 2" and it is now closing in on 6". I am pretty sure it is a male, but even after all the sex my jag threads I still can't tell the difference by looking at one. The papilla which is visible in the image if you zoom in looks male to me, more pointed than rounded. The fish is currently in a 75g with a 7" striped raphael, which it does not care for very much, but will soon go into a 5' 100 gallon for a while. The jag started out very outgoing but has since become very reclusive except at feeding time. I know this is not uncommon behavior for juvi parachromis and am trying to wait it out, but finding it annoying and am thinking about some kind of dithers. Any thoughts on gender, dithers, or anything else appreciated.

Unsure about yours think I would guess female, looks like the anal fin is rounded. Personally I would leave the dither fish, it will probably kill them over time, ime cichlids go through stages of being outgoing then shy then outgoing again,

Dithers would be a temporary measure for sure, I was thinking maybe a few banded leps, but am not sure how well they would be able to evade the jag. They could be pulled at any time if it was not working out, but I realize I might not have time to do so.
